Meeting to form the GNP Community Federation committee

Thursday 8th May 2013, 7.30-9.00 pm Grand Union Village – Community Development Trust 6 Higham Mews (above Costcutters), Grand Union Village, Northolt UB5 6FP

All interested groups and community members welcome.

The purpose of the meeting is to: a) Feedback the responses from the survey of the community for the needs for and aims of a Community Federation; b) Agree the activities and purpose of the Community Federation; c) Agree the terms of reference; d) Nominate and vote for Committee members.

GNP Community Development Team

We need volunteers to support the work of the GNP Community Federation. The work will be varied and will require the following skills:
• A good knowledge of internet and ICT
• A good level of literacy
• Good communication and interpersonal skills

Role will include:
• Supporting residents groups in developing and delivering plans
• Supporting the arrangement of meetings and forums
• Event and activity development and delivery
• Administrative support
• Working in partnership with the other volunteer teams
• Attending community meetings

This role will provide a wide range of experience for people interested in youth or community work and events management. It is a real insight in the field and is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to improve life in Greenford Northolt and Perivale.

GNP Community Federation Fundraising Team

We need volunteers to help us raise funds for the Celebrating Women and other activities and events and support the organisations within the Greenford Northolt and Perivale Areas.

Skills required:
• A good knowledge of internet and ICT
• A good level of literacy

Role will include:
• Identifying and researching funding opportunities
• Developing and delivering the existing funding strategy
• Applying for funding
• Promoting funding opportunities through the communications team
• Supporting member organisations to apply for funding
• Building relationships with Private donors and businesses to develop Corporate Sponsorship opportunities

This is a great opportunity for people with experience in the field to share their knowledge and increase the economic activity of groups in the area. For those without experience, this would provide a perfect grounding in the community sector and learning these skills would enable you to get work in the voluntary sector, finance and funding organisations.

GNP Community Federation Communications Team

We need volunteers to be on a generic communications team that will promote Celebrating Women and other activities and events.

Skills required:
• A good knowledge of internet and ICT
• A good level of literacy

Role will include:
• Regularly updating website
• Developing and maintaining a mailing list of over 150 groups and community contacts
• Using social media to keep up the interest and promote events and the website
• Compiling and sending out a monthly newsletter linked to the website
• Supporting the development of publicity material for events and activities

This would be great experience for people with an interest in developing a career in marketing, media and promotions.

Volunteers wanted – GNP Community Federation’s Public Health Programme

We need volunteers to support the work of the Greenford, Northolt and Perivale (GNP) Community Federation in the delivery of their Public Health Programme Activities in the Greenford, Northolt and Perivale areas.

Skills required:
Interest in healthy nutrition, general health and wellbeing;
Ability to work as part of a team;
Interest in working with families in a diverse community setting;
Flexibility and ability to commit for an agreed period of time.

Role will include:
General support for the smooth running of Healthy Eating Cooking Sessions for families;
Outreach work to promote health news and events in the community;
Help at “Health Zones” at community fun days, events and festivals: setting up, running information and signposting stalls, running interactive Healthy Eating Activities stalls…

This is a great opportunity for people with a knowledge of healthy nutrition or health promotion to share their knowledge and raise awareness of health issues in the community. It is also an excellent opportunity for people without previous experience who would like to work in the health promotion field and engage with the community sector.
